I Love Palm Springs!

I just got back last night from my weekend away in Palm Springs... I had such a great time! Here's the recap...

Thursday afternoon I drove down to Bellingham, WA to catch my flight to San Diego, CA. Christy picked me up from the airport in San Diego (on time!) and we drove up to her place in Orange County and met up with Jeff. We all ate 'In N Out' burgers for a late dinner... yummy!

Friday morning Christy and I got up early, loaded up her truck and headed off to the desert. It took us a couple hours on about 5 different highways to get there. Christy did so great at driving on all those highways... so many lanes and exits all over the place! We made a pit stop at the Cabazon outlets along the way and I got a great deal on a Coach bag :-)

We arrived at the Hilton Palm Springs Resort around 11am and met up with all the other ladies we were meeting there. Michele and Kimm were there already along with lots of their friends. Cathie arrived a bit later in the afternoon. But we were out at the pool soaking in the sun by 11:30am! The weather was amazing... nice and hot with a nice breeze blowing through every once in a while. It was in the high 90's every day we were there which apparently was cool for this time of the year!
Poolside service for food and drinks... it was so relaxing! I got a bad sunburn on my stomach and my upper legs on Saturday... apparently waterproof sunscreen is not exactly as waterproof in almost 100 degree heat as I thought.
We spent all day Friday and Saturday by the pool and in the pool from first thing in the morning until the sun was about to set at night. After the sun set each night we all got ready (there were 14 of us girls all together!) and we went out on the town.
I think between all of us there were 4 hotel rooms and I shared a room with Christy and Cathie. Friday night we went to a local pub that had dancing and a live band and Saturday night we went to a karaoke place. Both nights were fun and everyone had a great time.
Sunday morning Christy and I got ready and left for San Diego. My flight wasn't until the evening so we spent the day at the San Diego Zoo. I had never been to this zoo before and it was awesome. I really want to take the kids there one day when they are a bit older. There was a new elephant exhibit that cost 43 million dollars for them to build... it was huge and they had 7 elephants living there! Christy and I walked around the zoo all afternoon and then she dropped me off at the airport before heading home herself.
My flight ended up being delayed about an hour and a half... so I was glad I had packed a few books in my bag to help pass the time. The sun was just setting as the plane took off and it was a beautiful evening to fly. I got home just before midnight last night and I was happy to curl up in my own bed and sleep... it was a long day of traveling.
It is nice to be home although I am finding it a little cold after spending the past few days in the desert. Looks like the weather is going to stay nice here this week which is great since Victoria's birthday party is this weekend :-) My baby is going to be 2!
Dave and the kids had a great weekend while I was away and the house is cleaner than it was when I left... Go Dave! Since now I know he can clean so good I am going to have to put him to work more ;-)
A big THANKS to Dave and my Mom and Dad for helping out with the kids while I was away :-) I really appreciate it! I had a great time!
