Our Mini-Vacation

We have spent the last 5 days doing lots of visiting and driving! We left last Wednesday at 6:30am for Prince George... it was a long day of driving and the girls both did really well. Hannah watched Shrek 1, Shrek 2 and Shrek 3 one right after the other and we hardly heard a peep out of her except when she was hungry. Victoria slept on and off for most of the drive but she did get a bit fussy when we were driving up through the mountains... she was rubbing her ears quite a bit so I think the change in elevation was bothering her a bit. My ears always are sore driving through the mountains so I know how she felt! But even though the kids were relatively good it was still a long day of driving... it took us about 9 hours including our stops for breakfast and lunch.

We stopped in McLeese Lake at a picnic area for lunch on Wednesday and after we ate the girls were wandering around for a bit. Victoria got a bit adventurous and she tried to walk down a rocky embankment unsuccessfully... she wiped out pretty bad and she ended up with a pretty beat up looking face for the whole time we were away! I swear we didn't hit her!!

We stayed with our friends Daryl and Kara while we were in Prince George and we did some fun 'tourist' stuff with the kids. We took them to Noah's Ark Adventureland which was a big petting zoo. The kids loved it... they got to feed and pet lots of different farm animals. The big hit of the day was 2 baby goats that we befriended :) They were so cute! They were really friendly and they followed us around everywhere (even before we fed them!) Hannah and Victoria had lots of fun playing with them on the little playground and I took some video of it (I actually have several videos of them playing with the goats but it would take too long to upload them all!) Hannah is now asking for a goat for her birthday..... she was upset when we had to leave them behind. She tried to pick one up and carry it home!

On another day we took the kids to Bubba Baloo's which is kind of like Go Bananas... they had fun playing on the slides and in the ball pit. I really enjoyed this place too... it had air conditioning and it was 30 degrees outside!

My cousin Shane got married on Saturday and there was a wedding shower, a stag, a staggette plus the wedding while we were there. We were busy! Daryl and Kara were great babysitters for us so that we could stay out later than our kid's curfews :) Thanks guys!! I think they were pretty tired by the time we moved ourselves out of their place this morning for the drive home ;)

Shane and Talia's wedding was so nice :) The ceremony was at a horse ranch and we all sat on bales of hay that were covered in fabric and arranged in rows. Hannah and Victoria were fascinated with all the horses wandering around the fields. The reception was in a hotel downtown Prince George and it was lots of fun and the food was great too. Daryl and Kara came and picked Hannah and Victoria up after dinner so that they could get to bed and Dave and I stayed longer to enjoy ourselves a little more.

And today we got up early again and made the trek back home... I can't wait to sleep in tomorrow! I hope the kids let me....

CONGRATULATIONS SHANE & TALIA!
We're so glad we could share your special day with you!

Victoria's Online...

Victoria has made her debut on the Please Mum website... the posters should be up in the stores at the begining of August but she does have one photo on the website so far. I think they are in the process of changing the site over from their summer clearance to the new fall line so maybe she will have more pictures on the site soon. Here is the link...

Pretty soon I am going to have to call her 'people' if I want to talk to her now that she is a celebrity ;)

More Summer Fun...

Saturday Dave and I took the girls to Critter Care Wildlife Society for their annual open house. Critter Care houses and rehabilitates orphaned and injured wildlife they are only open to the public 2 days a year when they have their open house. We went on a tour of the sanctuary and saw all kinds of wildlife like baby skunks, raccoons, beavers, otters, chipmunks and lots of other species.

Hannah got her face painted like a raccoon which was cute before she rubbed half of it off! Both of the girls had pony rides and Hannah made friends with one of the firemen that were there and she got to tour a firetruck.

Sunday Dave worked all day with our neighbour replacing our fence... it is almost done now and it looks great! Our neighbour let Hannah swim in their big pool all afternoon and she was a bit disappointed today when she realized that the fence is back up and she can't just walk over there anymore.

Today Hannah and Victoria put on their bikinis and had friends over for a pool play day... the kids played and soaked up the sun while in the pool all morning and then they all gathered around the picnic table and shared some fruit for lunch.

Hannah and Rebecca were even laying out on a blanket pretending that they were sun tanning. It was cute but they certainly didn't stay still too long... just long enough for me to grab the camera! Gotta love the pool on a hot day :)

More Wii Fit...

Well we set up the Wii Fit and played and played and then played some more. I think I am going to be sore tomorrow... too much hula hooping! We were all going to go out for dinner but ordered pizza in instead so that we could keep playing the Wii Fit :) There was some competition going on....

I thought I had some pretty good high scores until Kara started playing... then she knocked me out of the top spot on almost all the games :( Then my Dad took the top spot on the ski slalom and he thought he was hot stuff. Kara and I played all evening until we were getting sore. Then Dave decided he was going to give it a whirl... Dave knocked Kara out of the top spots on most of the games and he knocked my Dad out too. Apparently Dave is the Wii Fit King for tonight!

Even Hannah was playing for a bit... she liked copying Kara doing the strength excerices and then she played a few games on her own afterwards.

Here are a few videos of Kara, Me and Hannah doing the Hula Hoop game... should be good for a laugh for all of you :) Dave refused to let me video tape him... what a party pooper.

Oh and by the way... after Kara left tonight I got a high score back. So I redeemed myself a little :)

Wii Fit!

So I am a little bit nuts... I went and lined up outside Futureshop this morning for a Wii Fit. Now I am only a little but nuts because the people that actually camped out overnight to be at the front of the line are completely nuts! Wii Fit is sold out everywhere and when a store gets some in they are snapped up right away. When Futureshop opened their doors this morning at 10am people were actually running to get to the shelves! There were only 20 available so I think I did pretty good since I managed to snag one while pushing the girls in the double stroller :) My apologies to the lady whose foot I ran over on the way....

Tonight my Dad, Brad and Kara are coming over and after we go out for dinner we are going to play Wii Fit. Kara better be ready... I hope her hip has recovered from our Wii night last weekend :)

After I got back from my adventure at Futureshop my friend Rhonda came over with her 2 kids for a play date. Hannah, Victoria and Mareesa played in the pool and Ronin had a snooze in his stroller. Rhonda brought us McDonald's for lunch.... she knows the way to Hannah's heart :) It was a fun afternoon... we will have to do it again soon.

Gotta run... I have to set the Wii Fit and get some practice in before Kara gets here!

Catching up...

I haven't blogged in almost a week and Christy hasn't even complained! But let me catch you all up on the past week anyways...

Hannah and Victoria are loving the pool... they have been swimming / splashing around almost everyday since we put it up. It is so great to have on hot days... it keeps them cool and entertained! And the bonus is that they always have the best naps afterwards!!

The weather has been great lately except for a few days (on the weekend of course!) when it rained. We invited some friends over to watch the UFC fight on Saturday night and were hoping that all the kids could enjoy the pool but it was cold and rainy that day. So instead the guys watched the fight, the girls played Wii and the kids just played inside with the mountains of toys that we have.

We are enjoying our new Wii... my mom came over last week and she played bowling with me. The next day she was so sore she could hardly bend over! Then my brother's girlfriend Kara and I played Wii all evening while everyone was watching the UFC fight and she had a sore hip from too much ski-ball. The next day my wrist was really sore... I think I overdid it on the Wii too.

Hannah invited her friend from a couple doors down to come and play in her pool the other night after dinner. McKenzie is 10 years old and Hannah keeps asking her to play with her... she has been really nice to Hannah but I think that Hannah can be a bit of a pest to her some times. But McKenzie has been over a couple of days to play with Hannah in the pool and yesterday she brought her friend Breanna over too. Hannah thought she was pretty hot stuff having 2 'big kids' over to play. Hannah holds her own though... she bosses the older girls around! Even Victoria was trying to get in the pool and hang out with them :)

Speaking of Victoria... she is not as innocent as she looks! She keeps climbing up on to anything and everything she can. For example - I went into the laundry room to get a load of clothes into the dryer and when I came back she was on top of the kids table. When I got mad at her and told her to get down she looked at me and laughed... she is a trouble maker!

I think the weather is supposed to stay nice for the rest of the week... I love summer time :)

PS - While I was typing this Christy sent me a message asking if I was going to update my blog anytime soon! So I take back what I said at the beginning of this post. She is totally the blog police so this should make her happy that I am now up to date again ;)

Summer Fun!

Yesterday morning we went down to White Rock beach for Canada Day. There was a kite flying competition going on and Hannah and Victoria really liked watching all the big kites up in the air. Some of the kites were huge... bigger than the average car!

We had lunch and some ice cream before we headed back home so that Hannah, Victoria and Dave could all have a nap (Dave had to go back to work on night shift last night and needed to get some sleep). Hannah chose Blue Bubblegum flavoured ice cream and she thought it was funny that it turned her tongue blue. Victoria had some of mine but she wanted to stick her tongue out for a photo too :)

This morning I met up with some friends and their kids at the Walnut Grove water park. It was Victoria's first time going in the sprinklers at the water park since she was only a baby last year. She really enjoyed splashing her feet around in the puddles and getting sprayed by the sprinklers... it probably felt good considering it is about 30 degrees out!
All Hannah's hats from last year were too small for her this year so I took her out to buy a new summer hat... she chose a pink baseball hat because she wanted one 'just like Papa's'. Now Papa's hat isn't pink but you get her point!
