I'm Back...

Victoria is finally feeling better after nearly 2 weeks of battling the virus she had. She was so up and down... one day I would think she was getting better and then the next day she would have a fever and be vomiting again. I am very thankful to have that illness behind us!

Let me try and catch you up a bit on the last couple weeks other than Victoria being ill....

Dave had a truck load of gravel delivered and he used it to fill around the kid's playground in our yard. It looks so much better now and the kids have spent alot of time out there in the last week. The day that Dave was moving all the gravel I managed to get the front garden weeded and Hannah spent most of the day hanging out at our neighbour's house. They had their pool filled and she spent most of the afternoon swimming with the neighbour kids.

On Victoria Day Dave and I volunteered at our church to help serve a hot dog lunch to the community after the May Day parade in Fort Langley. Dave and his crew cooked 1,500 hot dogs and I helped with serving them. It was such a great way to give back to our community :-) Hannah came with us and one of the church families took her to watch the parade while Dave and I were busy. My Dad stayed at our place to babysit Victoria since she was too sick to come along with us.

Hannah went on a gardening filed trip with her preschool class last week. The field trip was to one of her classmate's house and all the kids had lots of fun. They planted seeds, had a scavenger hunt for different coloured flowers, a bug hunt as well as doing some painting. There was also a trampoline, playground and a zip line... it was such a fun morning for them.

The weather has been great lately and we have been spending lots of time outside. Now that Victoria is feeling better she has been climbing all over the playground out in our yard. Dave just filled our pool so if it stays warm they will be swimming every day :-)

Hannah has a long string of birthday parties in the next few weeks... she is pretty excited about it. Today was Paige's birthday and it was at the gymnastics club... Hannah was really into it. She keeps saying she wants to take gymnastics classes so this was a great way to see how she liked it. I am going to look into classes and maybe I will register her in September if she hasn't changed her mind.

I just finished up my last session of Bootcamp (I think we are going to start up again in September if there are enough participants). I can't say that I am going to miss that torture 3 nights every week! But Rhonda and I have made plans to run at the track together to keep up our endurance over the summer.

My softball team is still undefeated :-) We just had a week off which was good timing because with Victoria sick it would have been hard to make the games. I am glad I signed up... I am really enjoying it :-)

I'm starting to get ready for my trip to Palm Springs that is 2 weeks away!!! It is going to be so much fun I can't wait to lounge poolside with all the ladies :-)

OK - So I think I am caught up now... I will try to be more on top of the blog now that things are a little less pukey around here!

I also want to mention that my friend Elena lost her mom this past week after a long struggle with leukemia. I am so sad for Elena and my thoughts and prayers have been with her this week and always. We're here for you if you need anything Elena!

Victoria's Trip to the ER

Victoria has been sick for the past 2 days. She hasn't been able to keep any food or liquid down for 2 days and she was running a high fever.

This afternoon I took her to our family Dr. since she didn't seem to be improving. The Dr. took one look at her and he was on the phone to the hospital. Victoria's temperature was 104 F and she was so lethargic she could hardly hold her head up.

So I had to leave the Dr.'s office and rush her to Emergency where we spent the next 6 hours.

Victoria was very dehydrated and had a very high fever. She was just laying in the hospital bed like a rag doll hardly moving at all with a glazed look in her eyes.

The ER Dr. gave Victoria a couple of injections and they began hydrating her with small doses of electrolytes every 5 minutes. She started to come around and was feeling much better after a couple hours so they discharged her.

She's home now and sleeping in her bed. She has some medications to take for the next couple days but hopefully she is on the mend now.

Jeff's Visit

Sorry Christy... I know that you are sad you couldn't come home to visit this weekend too! But since Jeff is leaving to head back to California tomorrow I thought it would be safe to post the pictures now without rubbing too much salt in your wounds :-)

Jeff was in town for business this weekend and on Saturday I had 2 baseball games so Jeff came by and met up with us at the fields :-) Jeff brought Timbits for Hannah and Victoria... he knows how to win those girls over! They were smitten. Jeff hung out with Dave and the kids while I was playing and the girls had a great time.

After my games were finished we all went to Hannah's (& Christy's... sorry!) favourite restaurant - Red Robin for lunch. Jeff sealed the deal with Hannah when he gave her a loonie out of the change... she thinks Jeff is the best and wants to marry him. Look out Christy!
Sunday night Dave and I went out for dinner and to a movie... I know we were taking a chance after the sunscreen episode last time we hired a babysitter! I am happy to say that we came home and there were no problems other than Victoria spilled some juice on the floor. Both Hannah and Victoria were fast asleep and the babysitter didn't look too worse for wear :-)

This morning I took the kids to see the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' show at Guildford Mall. We met up with Tanya and Joshua there and the kids watched the show together. Tysen was in school and I think Joshua liked having both Hannah and Victoria to himself... he's a little ladies man!

As we were walking through the mall on our way out Hannah starts talking about getting married. Tanya and I didn't quite hear what Hannah said so Tanya asked Hannah what she said. Hannah's reply was "If you want to get married all you need is a dress." She thinks she's got it all figured out!
