Olympic Ice Dance

Dave and I spent the day downtown yesterday before heading to the Olympic Ice Dance competition. The event was really good... one of the Canadian teams finished in 2nd place with two more events to come. So hopefully they will continue to skate well and end up on the podium.

It was a really long day with lots of walking... we were pretty tired by the time we finally made it home last night. Downtown was pretty crowded and busy everywhere we went. But it was fun to see everyone walking around wearing their countries colours :-)

Torch Time

An Olympic torch bearer came to Hannah's preschool today and the girls got a chance to have their pictures taken with it.

Dance A Thon

Hannah's preschool class had their "Dance A Thon" for World Vision today along with their Valentine's Day Party. Hannah raised $410 for World Vision... I don't know yet how much the school raised but last year it was over $60,000.

The parents and siblings were invited to participate during the last 15 minutes of the Dance A Thon. Victoria was happy to get to dance too :-)

Tonight is the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics... we are going to be watching it on TV. Exciting!! Although I am saddened to hear that their was a luge athlete that had a fatal accident during training today.

2010 Olympic Torch!

The Olympic Torch came through Langley this afternoon and I took the kids to see it. There was a big celebration ceremony at the Event Center but I figured with 5,000 people there it would be hard to manage the kids on my own. So instead Hannah, Victoria and I walked to the main street where the torch route was and we joined the crowd of people gathered on the street.

We got there a bit early which was good because there were LOTS of people all over the place. The girls were pretty good at waiting patiently and when all the Olympic buses, police cars and motorcycles started coming down the hill they were jumping up and down with excitement. I had to hold Victoria so she could see but Hannah stood right out front and was waving and giving people high fives as they went by :-)

The kids were able to see everything really well and afterwards while we were walking home Hannah said, "That was awesome! I can't wait to tell Dad about it!"

Victoria is still talking about the big 'candle' that she saw going by :-)

I took some pictures as best as I could since I was carrying Victoria at the same time....

Single Ladies....

Hannah and Victoria picked up a new song from the Alvin and The Chipmunks movie... although I find Beyonce's version is a little more appealing to the ear than The Chipmunks version ;-)
